“To inform and educate accurately, openly and objectively for a better South Sudan and a better world”.
The New Nation is a newspaper published by ‘Sudan Advocacy for Development’, an NGO registered and based in Juba, South Sudan.
As it prepares for the launch of the bi-monthly newspaper on the 20th of February, The New Nation did not want to miss out on the historic event of the birth of a new country – through its website.
The project was founded by Els De Temmerman, an international award-winning journalist who was Editor-in-Chief of The New Vision media group in Uganda.
The New Nation, the first newspaper that aims to be distributed in all states of Southern Sudan, aspires to disseminate accurate and balanced information that will enhance transparency, debate and democratic participation.
The project also wants to improve the socio-economic status of war affected communities through education and health pullouts, as well as by providing useful information on agriculture, cattle-keeping and environmental issues.
We believe the newspaper can contribute to peace-building, conflict management and nation-building by bringing communities together and encouraging exchange and debate aimed at bringing about truth and reconciliation.
